    What is an Isolation Transformer?
An isolation transformer is a device used in electrical systems to isolate the input power from the output power to ensure safe and reliable operation. Isolation transformers play an important role in a variety of industrial and commercial applications.
In this article, we will introduce in detail the role of isolation transformers, their working principles, and their applications in energy storage systems.
    Isolation Transformer

    1. Functions of Isolation Transformers

(1). Electrical Isolation: Isolation transformers completely isolate the input and output circuits to avoid direct contact between currents, thereby effectively preventing dangerous situations such as short circuits and electric shocks.
(2). Blocking DC: Since the magnetic circuit of the transformer is disconnected, DC cannot be transmitted through the isolation transformer, so the isolation transformer can effectively block the DC component.
(3). Filtering: Isolation transformers can filter out interference factors such as harmonics and surge voltages in the power grid, thereby ensuring the stability and reliability of the output voltage.
(4). Protecting Equipment: Isolation transformers can effectively protect downstream equipment from interference from upstream power supplies, such as surge voltages and transient voltages in the power grid.

    2. Working principle of isolation transformer

The working principle of isolation transformer is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. When AC power passes through the primary winding of the isolation transformer, an alternating current will be generated in the winding, thereby generating a magnetic field. This magnetic field will cause an induced electromotive force in the secondary winding, thereby generating an output voltage. Since there is no direct contact between the primary and secondary windings, the input power supply can be completely isolated from the output power supply.

    3. Application of isolation transformer

In the energy storage container system, the isolation transformer plays a vital role. It not only provides electrical isolation and voltage conversion functions, but also enhances the reliability and safety of the system

    (1). Electrical isolation:

Electrically isolate the energy storage system from the power grid or other equipment to prevent direct current flow and ensure the safety of operators.

    (2). Voltage conversion:

According to the needs of the energy storage system, the input voltage is converted into a suitable output voltage to meet the working requirements of various equipment.

    (3). Filtering:

Reduce voltage fluctuations and electromagnetic interference, improve power quality, and protect sensitive equipment from damage.

    (4). Enhanced reliability:

When a system fails, the isolation transformer can play a role of isolation and protection to prevent the spread of the fault.

    5. Working principle of isolation transformer

    Isolation Transformer
The principle of isolation transformer is the same as that of ordinary transformer. Both use the principle of electromagnetic induction.
Isolation transformer generally refers to a 1:1 transformer. Because the secondary is not connected to the ground. There is no potential difference between any secondary wire and the ground. It is safe to use. It is often used as a maintenance power supply.
Isolation transformers are not all 1:1 transformers. The power supply of control transformers and electronic tube equipment is also an isolation transformer. For example, power supplies such as electronic tube amplifiers, electronic tube radios, oscilloscopes, and lathe control transformers are all isolation transformers. For example, in order to safely repair color TVs, 1:1 isolation transformers are often used. Isolation transformers are used more frequently and are also used in air conditioners.
Although the primary and secondary windings of general transformers also have the function of isolating circuits, at high frequencies, the capacitance between the two windings will still cause electrostatic interference between the circuits on both sides. To avoid this interference, the primary and secondary windings of the isolation transformer are generally placed on different cores to reduce the capacitance between the two; there are also primary and secondary windings that are placed concentrically, but an electrostatic shield is added between the windings to obtain high anti-interference performance.
Electrostatic shielding is to set a piece of open copper sheet or non-magnetic conductive paper between the primary and secondary windings, which is called a shielding layer. The copper sheet or non-magnetic conductive paper is connected to the shell with a wire. Sometimes, in order to achieve a better shielding effect, a shielding shell is also covered over the entire transformer. The lead-out terminals of the winding are also shielded to prevent other external electromagnetic interference. In this way, the primary and secondary windings are mainly magnetically coupled, and the equivalent distributed capacitance between them can be less than 0.01pF, thereby greatly reducing the capacitive current between the primary and secondary windings and effectively suppressing various interferences from the power supply and other circuits.
